This past Sunday and Monday 11 of our high school student council members and their advisors attended a leadership retreat at Cragun's resort in Brainerd. At this event they had the chance to network with other school leaders, get new ideas, and heard useful tips to help create a culture of community in our school. Two of our members also had the opportunity to promote our homecoming tailgate event during a segment called "Parade of Ideas" where schools could present one of the ideas from their school.

Our amazing Taher staff, Amber and Sharona, along with Chef Tony prepared a great Mongolian grill style meal before the school board study session last evening for our Board members. The spicy teriyaki sauce was served at the secondary for their Asian inspired meal this past Friday.
Chef Tony visited to grill burgers (from local farm S & J Farms) and hot dogs this fall and has come twice to serve made-to-order omelettes at the secondary.
Our Taher staff does their best to make sure our students are being served well balanced meals daily for breakfast and lunch.

For the month of October, our focus was on Responsibility in Learning, for our students of the month. These students took ownership of their education by being organized, completing tasks on time, asking thoughtful questions, and showing dedication to their academic growth. Congratulations to our October students of the month!!
There sure was a lot of energy around both buildings today, but it was a great day to add some smiles to everyone's face. We hope everyone has a fun and SAFE Halloween!

Winter activity seasons begin soon! Check the District website for additional information or reach out to the coach with any questions! https://www.isd2071.k12.mn.us/page/lcwm-athletics

Our first of three student council/school board breakfasts was this morning. Board members and students had great conversation recapping homecoming, daily schedules, chromebooks, livening up the secondary building, KASTL, and several other items. It was a great open conversation!

The Red Cross Blood Drive, hosted by the LCWM National Honor Society is happening now! It's been a great turnout so far!

Please join the Seniors as they lead us in the School Song at tonight's football Game!

Congratulations to this Knowledge Bowl team for placing fourth out of 25 teams today!! Great job!

The sun was shining bright this morning, but still a little chilly, for our annual walk/roll to school day. Huge thank you to Officer Gangelhoff with the Lake Crystal Police Department for helping us cross Main Street safely all morning and the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department for being present throughout town!
This morning, the secondary school conducted lockdown and hold drills with the help of Minnesota State Patrol, Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department, Lake Crystal Police Department, and Le Sueur County Sheriff's Department. We appreciate that a variety of our local law enforcement agencies are willing and able to do this with us. This not only helps our students become familiar with the process if there were a real intruder; it also helps law enforcement become familiar with our building and grounds.
Wednesday, October 8 is national walk/roll to school day! The buses and students can be dropped off at the recenter as early as 7:30! Students, teachers, and family members will be walking from the Rec to the elementary so please drive carefully as there will be a lot of people walking and riding bikes!

Congratulations to our September Students of the Month, who were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating “Respect for Self.” Whether through self-discipline, confidence, self-care, personal responsibility, a strong sense of integrity, or other positive behaviors, we celebrate these students from each grade who set a strong example for their peers throughout the month of September. Please join us in congratulating them!

LCWM career investigations courses and the work seminar course students were invited to attend the Tour of Manufacturing on Thursday, Oct 2. We toured ZF Off Highway Solutions Minnesota, Inc., Jones Metal, Jarraff by Prinoth, Creation Technologies and IFS. Students saw firsthand what these businesses and industries do, learned about career opportunities and talked to various industry professionals.

Congratulations Queen Nettie and King Charlie!
