Secondary students gathered this morning for our Veterans Day assembly, which opened with the senior high choir singing the National Anthem. Students then heard from Bryce Stenzel, who has been reenacting President Abraham Lincoln for 35 years, sharing reflections on leadership and service. Following his address, the senior high band played the Armed Services Medley, and students who have family members who have served in one of the branches were invited to stand during their family member’s theme, creating a powerful moment of recognition. The assembly concluded with one of our students playing Taps in honor and remembrance of fallen soldiers.
We extend a sincere thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country.

At the Section 2A Cross Country Meet held on October 23rd, 2025, Kelly S. Moeller was voted Section 2A Girls’ Assistant Cross Country Coach of the Year. The award was voted on by the 19 head coaches in Section 2A. “It is always nice to be recognized by your peers; in talking with many coaches at meets it is evident that our section has a strong group of coaches that are invested in the success of their teams.” For Moeller, this was her 16th year coaching cross country. She coached a couple of years in the 90s at LCWM, four years at Timberview in Colorado Springs and the past ten years for LCWM-Nicollet. Moeller got her start in cross country by joining the team at LCWM as a ninth-grader. She ran on strong teams her junior and senior years when the Knights finished seventh and fifth in the state meet. Moeller has also coached several seasons of basketball and track and field throughout her career. She especially enjoys the atmosphere and positive vibes of cross country where she likes seeing kids work hard and improve. The MSHSL definitely took notice three years ago when they began to charge for the state cross country meet, selling over 10,000 tickets. So many people end up enjoying running at some point in their lives and Moeller is proud and happy to be part of building that culture.

Congratulations on earning 1st place at today's Knowledge Bowl meet!!

On November 5, LCWM students attended the Mayo Healthcare Festival at MSU - Mankato. During this healthcare career exploration event, students listened to a panel of educators from the MSU - Mankato nursing department, a panel of various Mayo healthcare professionals and students participated in a number of hands-on healthcare activities.

This past Sunday and Monday 11 of our high school student council members and their advisors attended a leadership retreat at Cragun's resort in Brainerd. At this event they had the chance to network with other school leaders, get new ideas, and heard useful tips to help create a culture of community in our school. Two of our members also had the opportunity to promote our homecoming tailgate event during a segment called "Parade of Ideas" where schools could present one of the ideas from their school.

Our amazing Taher staff, Amber and Sharona, along with Chef Tony prepared a great Mongolian grill style meal before the school board study session last evening for our Board members. The spicy teriyaki sauce was served at the secondary for their Asian inspired meal this past Friday.
Chef Tony visited to grill burgers (from local farm S & J Farms) and hot dogs this fall and has come twice to serve made-to-order omelettes at the secondary.
Our Taher staff does their best to make sure our students are being served well balanced meals daily for breakfast and lunch.

For the month of October, our focus was on Responsibility in Learning, for our students of the month. These students took ownership of their education by being organized, completing tasks on time, asking thoughtful questions, and showing dedication to their academic growth. Congratulations to our October students of the month!!
There sure was a lot of energy around both buildings today, but it was a great day to add some smiles to everyone's face. We hope everyone has a fun and SAFE Halloween!

Winter activity seasons begin soon! Check the District website for additional information or reach out to the coach with any questions! https://www.isd2071.k12.mn.us/page/lcwm-athletics

Our first of three student council/school board breakfasts was this morning. Board members and students had great conversation recapping homecoming, daily schedules, chromebooks, livening up the secondary building, KASTL, and several other items. It was a great open conversation!

The Red Cross Blood Drive, hosted by the LCWM National Honor Society is happening now! It's been a great turnout so far!

Please join the Seniors as they lead us in the School Song at tonight's football Game!

Congratulations to this Knowledge Bowl team for placing fourth out of 25 teams today!! Great job!

The sun was shining bright this morning, but still a little chilly, for our annual walk/roll to school day. Huge thank you to Officer Gangelhoff with the Lake Crystal Police Department for helping us cross Main Street safely all morning and the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department for being present throughout town!
This morning, the secondary school conducted lockdown and hold drills with the help of Minnesota State Patrol, Blue Earth County Sheriff's Department, Lake Crystal Police Department, and Le Sueur County Sheriff's Department. We appreciate that a variety of our local law enforcement agencies are willing and able to do this with us. This not only helps our students become familiar with the process if there were a real intruder; it also helps law enforcement become familiar with our building and grounds.
Wednesday, October 8 is national walk/roll to school day! The buses and students can be dropped off at the recenter as early as 7:30! Students, teachers, and family members will be walking from the Rec to the elementary so please drive carefully as there will be a lot of people walking and riding bikes!
