"I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions." – Stephen R. Covey
This week, we had the privilege of celebrating one of our students who, despite facing difficult circumstances, made the powerful decision to KEEP GOING. Please join us in congratulating Nya on her graduation from LCWM!
Nya was a student in the LCWM Alternative Learning Program this past school year. Through perseverance, hard work, and the support of her teachers, she successfully completed her classes and earned her high school diploma. While her journey may not have followed the traditional path, her achievement is no less deserving. Nya made the decision to keep moving forward—and that deserves to be celebrated!

Mr. Thofson announced that Tyler Seppmann has been named a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented by Mr. Thofson to this scholastically talented senior.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2026 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2026 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
Please join us in congratulating Tyler on this achievement.

Secondary students and staff had the privilege of hearing from professional athlete motivational speaker Reggie Dabbs during an assembly this morning. Reggie connected with everyone not only through the powerful message he shared but also with his talent on the soprano saxophone. He played familiar songs, engaged the students, and shared his story.
In just a few moments, he explained where he came from, how school staff saved his life, and how even one act of kindness can change someone’s entire day.
He left everyone with a “10/10 challenge”: to complete 10 random acts of kindness for 10 people each day, giving others hope for their future.

These classmates have spent many mornings, days, and evenings together throughout their time at LCWM, but this morning hit a little bit different. Instead of being up early and at school for one of the many activities they're involved in at LCWM, they spent time together enjoying breakfast during the annual "Senior Sunrise". As the class shared updates on how the year is going so far and future plans, they also shared memories.
Class of 2026: the sunrise may have been a bit foggy, but your future is bright.

This morning our high school paraprofessionals practiced using the "Striker" evacuation chair for students who may be in a wheelchair and needing to go down the steps. It's good to practice with no pressure so you're prepared when it's needed!
